What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. The ambience was fantastic. The service was very good – we had great help from our server. We had oysters which were absolutely delicious. The goat was perfectly portioned but the beef tenderloin had almost too many fries. A little less would help balance the dish. The creme brulee was very light and tasty!

This is a great place if you want some great french eatery vibes!

  2. Looking from the outside you would never expect to find such a romantic, intimate, cozy inside. Much more seating than I would have thought as well. We started with some wine for wife and beer for me. Various options in water. All great. Appetizers was a goat cheese and onion quiche with side salad and escargot with butter for dipping. Both was delicious. Entrees was the steak and fries cooked perfectly and pork served with a gravy and mashed potatoes with red cabbage. For dessert the mousse was perfection!

  3. Having spent significant time in France and enjoying lots of truly quality restaurants I can say that Vin Rouge is right up there with the best of French restaurants. Please give them a try. the food, service, atmosphere ware all 13/10. Aden was our server and she was knowledgeable, attentive, and a joy to have. Please ask for her!

  4. Overall I enjoyed our dining experience here. Our server was excellent, very knowledgeable of the menu. Apps, cheeses were great. For entrees we ordered the chicken and pork chop. The pork chop was DELICIOUS. Unfortunately the chicken was a quite dry/ overcooked, plain in flavor (the chicken itself) and not enough sauce to soak it in to salvage it (the sauce did have good flavor). If you’re gonna do a simplistic rotisserie chicken in a slightly upscale restaurant (especially when there are only a handful of entrees to choose), you GOTTA be sure it’s done right. Otherwise good experience, 4 stars.

  5. We already knew Vin Rouge to serve some of the most delicious food in the Triangle (in our opinion), but now we know they are also the most incredible event host as well. Vin Rouge helped us host our wedding reception in their incredibly beautiful Garden Patio space. From day one, Meredith, the event coordinator, was amazing to work with. She was patient, kind, full of ideas and suggestions. She was also accepting of our budget and given that, worked with us to bring our wedding day vision to life. Our wedding reception exceeded both my husband and my expectations. From the food, to the drinks, to the service, to the physical space itself, to the patience Meredith and every one of the waitstaff had with us when our schedule got off-kilter, we felt so incredibly welcome and loved the whole night. We feel so grateful Vin Rouge was willing to be a part of our big day. And we know where we will be celebrating the anniversary of our marriage from this day forth.

Wow, this place sucks! Go to Jolie in Raleigh for better French cuisine instead. Food took forever to come out and the table next to us that got sat 45 minutes after us got their food (ordered the same exact things) less than 2 minutes after us (1 min 46 seconds exactly. I timed it because I’m petty). Every dish was just okay. The flavor wasn’t there for any of the dishes ordered. Also, the braised beef you would expect to be tender was very chewy. When we got seated, we got sat directly between two other couples despite the rest of the restaurant being empty. Nothing against the hostess, but the manager needs to work on seating. I asked if we could sit somewhere else because it felt kinda cramped, but she said she would have to ask her manager, so I told her not to worry about it. The only upside was the servers. Everyone was very kind. Would have rather gone to waffle house than eat $150 for two extremely mediocre meals.

Very sub-par experience. We had a reservation and there was only one other couple dining when we arrive yet they tried to seat us directly next to that couple instead of at any of the other tables. For a place that requires checking your covid vaccine cards, why wouldn’t you also social distance as much as possible? The service seemed like they were lost in the clouds and not very attentive at all despite there only being two tables dining in the restaurant. The bread for the table was terrible, it didn’t have a good flavor and was very hard textured making it difficult to eat. You’d think a french place would have a handle on how to make a good bread. The steak frites was kind of tough and didn’t have the most flavor, it was just okay. The salmon dish was not good flavor at all. The salmon was cooked well but the greens and potatoes were not and had a gross flavor. The best thing we had was the short rib gnocchi.

Rude customer service. We were forced to take a table by the doors to the kitchen, and when we asked to switch tables, we were not allowed to (we were one of three groups in the entire restaurant). We were there until closing time, and our requested table (by the window) was open until the very end. In fact, about 1/3 of the tables were still open, so no decent reason for us to be forced to that table. For $40 per person, I expected better. Small thing: I would expect an expensive French restaurant to serve bread. Very surprised they didn’t. POSITIVES: Excluding the customer service experience, the food was great and good ambience (though I wish there was music). This service single-handedly worsened an otherwise great experience. PHOTOS: 1. Mushrooms (side, pretty solid) 2. Salmon (cooked well and tasty, but slightly salty. Not the biggest fan of the hollandaise sauce, but that is personal preference) 3. Chicken (filling and tasty) 4. Risotto (tasty but small quantity. Better as an appetizer, not too filling) 5. Requested table, clearly unused and available (as it was throughout the night)

Delicious cuisine with attentive service – our server was kind and helped us make our show at DPAC. The escargot was tasty – favorite dish was the brown butter ham (melts in your mouth) – the cucumber soup with crab was excellent as well – everything is such a treat! Lovely evening! Thank you!

Rue has always been a favorite of mine. The bartender made a cucumber gin fizz and it was outstanding. Full of fresh flavors and an amazing texture.
