What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. I have been training at Cutting Edge for about one year now. The school is top notch for me. It truly feels like a family inside and outside of the training facility. Professor Manuel has been nothing but an amazing & inspiring person to me. I have seen a change not only physically, but mentally as well. Josef’s work ethic is unheard of. He will go out of his way to make sure you are on the right path. This has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am glad to be apart of this amazing journey. Looking forward to the future.

  2. Honestly, words cant begin to describe how much of the man I am today has been shaped by Cutting Edge and head instructor Prof. Josef Manuel. You are going to see the aspects of a clean and respectful environment where you can safely grow as a practitioner of the arte suave, but above this you will truly grow as a person and make friendships with people who will become closer to you like brothers and sisters.

Prof. Manuel has played an instrumental role in my formation as a man and at all the lowest points of my life, he has always supported me and gave me the mental strength to keep pressing on. I really wouldn’t be training or even be alive without the lessons that I learned on the mat with him. Cancer Survivor here wooooo!

You are always going to get top notch training every class you get and you are always going to be stuffed with knowledge, but for me it’s the intangibles which you just have to experience which keep you coming back to the academy day after day. You really can’t go wrong with this academy. I love it so much with every fiber of my being. I really wish I just could live there.

  3. My 4 year old daughter has been attending Cutting Edge for a couple months now and although at the beginning she wanted no part in it, after just one class, there is nothing that will keep her away. She wishes class was 7 days a week versus the 4, lol. The trainer and staff are all very friendly and helpful. I feel quite comfortable leaving my baby in their hands. Already I notice the improvement in my daughters leadership and communication skills. So glad we joined!

  4. Wow, what a great school. Very clean facility. Tuesday is fun, lots of cardio, great Judo instruction and then BJJ focus. Josef and Mr. G treat you like family. They make sure that you only do what you feel comfortable with. I’ll be signing up for sure. Highly recommend you come on by and give this place a try.

  5. This school is amazing!!! I wanted my daughter to learn self defense, but no school around my area felt right and when I went personally to Cutting Edge along with my daughter, we both felt in love with the school and I didn’t mind the 30 minute drive. School is very clean and the environment was great. They treat you more as a family and I couldn’t find a better school for my daughter than Cutting Edge. I strongly recommend this school to any parent.

I started here a year ago with zero BJJ experience. Getting started was intimidating but the instructors have all pushed me out of my comfort zone while still allowing me to work at my own pace. Both the higher belts and instructors are super generous with their time, answering questions and demonstrating moves. Anyone who comes here and makes the effort to learn and practice regularly will see themselves improve.

Before you sign up here is my experience to consider into your decision. I had signed up for a 6 month plan and the plan would renew after that period . I decided to cancel and asked for a refund. This gym explained that he could not issue me a refund because of discounts I benefited from in the first 6 months. I eventually asked for the cash amount of the discount to be taken from my 2nd 6month payment and for the difference to be returned . The gym has refused , I have not attended any class in the 2nd 6 month policy . In my mind these people are thieves and anyone should consider carefully before committing your hard earned money to them .

From the moment I stepped foot in Allstar MMA I felt welcome. Every training partner I’ve had has been patient, understanding and easy to work with. I’ve always felt safe with every member I’ve trained with. I’ve been a student of Jamal Patterson for my entire jiu jitsu career and would be the first to recommend Allstar to any interested party and especially to women interested in training BJJ.

This place has felt like home since day 1. Attention to detail through and through from America making sure you’re ready for your first session to the coaches recognizing/acknowledging your weak points, and pushing you through your workouts. Jamal shows interest in everyone that comes through his doors. Very comfortable environment.

I love this place. The coaches are all amazing and really do their best to teach you. Coach Villy is the best coach I have ever had in all my years training. Professor Patterson is the owner and he has created a fantastic and helpful atmosphere here. Everyone here is positive and helps each other out. If you want to improve as a martial artists, you will here. If you want to lose weight, you will here as well. The prices are fair as well. Not too cheap but not too expensive either.

I have had an amazing experience training at Procel BJJ. Professor Brian and Coach Caitlin have done a great job of making me feel welcomed, confident, and comfortable. Another great thing to highlight is the people in this school everyone challenges and supports one another! I have been coming here for around 5 months and can honestly say this is the best workout I have ever tried not only do you physically workout you also workout your mind. If you are a female reading this review, I highly recommend you give this school a try not only to keep you in shape but to provide you with some great self-defense techniques.

Brian is doing an outstanding job as an instructor. My 5 years old daughter has attended his classes for approx. half year now and despite training mainly with boys, she enjoys the class and is happy to go each time. That is mainly thanks to Brian’s patient and empathetic way of teaching. I also had a chance to attend a few adult classes myself and enjoyed them a lot. In my experience, students will never be put in a situation that would make them feel uncomfortable, not safe or stretched too far beyond their abilities. Last but not least: the gym is always clean, smells great (whatever that is) and is very conveniently located as part of the Brunswick community center.

Brian is a wonderful teacher who encourages his students to do their best with kindness and grace. The mixed age and mixed gender students all seem to enjoy being there and get along well. They are always learning new skills and practicing their prior skills. My 13 year old has definitely gotten stronger and more self-assured through this class. He is very motivated to attend and happy when he returns from it.

I joined the Procel Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy more than a year ago and have been extremely impressed with the level of instruction and the welcoming atmosphere. Professor Brian and Coach Caitlin are incredibly knowledgeable and patient, and they have helped me improve my techniques and build my confidence on the mat. The academy offers a wide range of classes for people of all skill levels, and the schedule is very flexible, which makes it easy to find a class that fits my schedule. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, and the gym has a great community of students who are always willing to help each other out. Overall, I am very happy with my decision to join the academy, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn this amazing martial art. The instructors are top-notch, the facilities are great, and the community is very supportive.

We are having a lovely experience at Procel BJJ for our kindergarten age son. Professor Brian and Coach Caitlin are very energetic and gentle while teaching children. My son is learning practical self defense skills, building his physical strength, and also discovering more self confidence. The facility is also bright and clean!
