What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Sardine is absolutely wonderful. The service is always spot on and the food is unbeatable. I love sitting near the open kitchen with the brick oven. Watching all the yummy food going in and out helps me choose my dish. Brunch was excellent we all enjoyed each dish. The Croque Madame hit the spot and after we all finished we followed it up by sharing the amazing Belgian waffle, a perfect ending to brunch!

  2. We went to the restaurant based on an article in the Washington Post highly praising the food. We were not disappointed. Our waitress was very knowledgeable when I had questions about the wine choices. I had grilled octopus for appetizer and my partner had asparagus soup. Both were excellent. For entree we both had salmon. It’s superbly grilled, tender and juicy. It shows the chef’s calibre because salmon (and chicken breast) could be dry when overcooked. My partner also had a chocolate tort for dessert that he said was delicious.

One minor minus for the attention of service: I was into the first bite of my appetizer when I realized that there was no napkin offered. The waitress initially brought only silverware. We had to ask for it. But overall, it was a great dining experience.

  3. Truly one of the best places in Madison. The atmosphere can’t be beat, with the fresh bistro elegance, lakeside seating, and charming service. Everything here has been fantastic, from the endless oysters, mussels, to even their burgers and other treats (you’ll die happy eating the chicken liver toasts). Grab an absinthe or excellent house wine and enjoy.

  4. What a great find! We had a really hard time choosing, everything on the menu sounded amazingly good… and the things we had were! Call for a reservation so you’re not disappointed. Excellent and friendly service. Outstanding cocktail menu as well! A little hard to find during construction, it is BEHIND on the back side of the Bicycle building.

  5. I took my husband there for his birthday and it was the first time for both of us.

My husband said the food was pretty good but I personally didn’t like anything in particular at all. And I feel like for this price range, it should be more than pretty good.

The staff was nice but not super empathetic. I never tried French cuisine before and I needed some help deciding and ordering. The server just kept talking in lingos that I didn’t understand. I would have appreciated if instead of using specific names, he can describe or explain it. So as much as I appreciated all the good manners, I didn’t feel so comfortable dining there.

What a wonderful experience enhanced by Not having everyone on their phones while dining. I will admit the hubby was not a fan when he saw the no cell, laptop policy. I thought it was a great way to get back to good conversations. I noticed so many of the smaller details of the dining experience. To the food; with every bite I noticed the amount of care and time put into making it taste exceptional. Please do not pass up trying some bakery.

La Brioche is a cute and bustling local eatery. It was quite busy when my husband, my brother, and I went for brunch (~11am). However, that did not stop the good service and quality food. We ordered the eggs benedict, crepe, and cured salmon omelette, along with a pumpkin spice latte at very fair prices. Everything was delicious and well portioned. If you like breakfast and brunch, this is a great local place. I have not had their dinner menu. However, I will update that in time! I would recommend.

A lovely place with a French vibe. Wonderful ambiance and super cute tables and booths. Food was delicious, a bit of a limited menu and strange choices/combinations but well worth it. Great beverage/coffee selection. Overall a wonderful experience. Great place for couples, dates and romantic getaways. Also you can just visit the bakery for a great selection of homemade pastries, cakes and desserts. Yummy 😋!

La Brioche is a hidden gem in Madison!! From the moment you enter the restaurant you get an elegant and friendly vibe. Love the beautiful decor of this place and totally in love with the beautiful cups they offer tea in. It was my first time trying this place and absolutely loved it. The food, service, and vibe is a 10/10!!! You must save room for dessert because they have a great selection of baked sweet treats. Highly recommend coming here for breakfast or lunch. This is a great brunch spot offering excellent food. Do make reservations or be prepared to wait because they are always busy.

Pleasant bistro on University Avenue in Madison. Menu includes burgers, quiche, salads and sandwiches. Plenty of outdoor seating in the shade, tho traffic noise is a distraction. My burger, requested as medium came well done and was rather dry. The Reubens looked good. Nice wine list with house red and white inexpensive. Service was masked and rather deliberate: staffing shortage?

We were luckily able to walk in and sit at the window. The waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. They accommodated me and my daughter splitting the appetizer, dinner and dessert since we wanted to try several items but didn’t want to overeat. This was a wonderful place that I highly recommend!

This restaurant has become one of our favorite restaurants in Madison. My wife and I have come twice, and both times, the servers were delightful to us and super accomodating. The food was wonderful. I can’t describe with words how good their food is, but it is clearly run by a French person, which was confirmed by our waitress. The locale is quite small, so I recommend calling for a reservation. I personally find their prices to be quite reasonable for what I would call an upscale type of dinner. It actually felt like I was in a cozy restaurant in France again.

Moving from Indiana it could definitely be hard to adjust….. Coming here to this cozy establishment has really enthralled me! The food is so seasoned to perfection and comes plated absolutely beautifully! The hostess was so knowledgeable about the food and kind enough to accommodate for dinner/brunch. I’m so grateful for this establishment for their gracious service, and delicious food! Thank you!!!!

We happened upon this adorable French Homestyle Cafe for brunch, and we are so glad we did. Reservations are recommended, but we lucked out with an open table. The atmosphere was so charming and intimate, the food was incredible, and the service was great. We will be bringing friends with us next time.

Top notch food, great service, and cozy home style setting. You have to try the lavender crembrule. I can’t say any other dessert has ever made me feel tingly on the inside. I had the savory crepes with salmon and was so happy I did. I’ll definitely be stopping here again next time I’m in the area.
