Our server was awesome and friendly 👏 😀

  2. Waitress was great but problems in the kitchen caused excessive delay. Many left. We waited when food arrived it was good. Hope they get things worked out in the kitchen!

  3. Very nice waitress and the food was good but they need more staff. Waited 10 min to get a table and 40 min to get our food. Restaurant was 90% empty. One waitress and one cook is unfortunately not adequate.

  4. The wait was a bit long, but the food was good and our waitress Amanda was very nice and she took good care of us while we waited for our food. Not going to lie, it was worth the wait. She was the only server on shift and stayed two hours late to help out, which was awesome. She did amazing, and she deserves six stars for her service.

  5. Understaffed and slow. The food was ok at best. It took way too long to be seated, get our oders in and actually get our food. No way should it take that long for a burger and a BLT on a slow evening. They also seemed to be out of a lot of menu items. My son’s burger was served dry…no condiments or produce and there was a nasty brown oil all over the plate from the fries.

We added a Salem stop to our trek out to Detroit Lake just to try Word of Mouth Neighborhood Bistro. It has a number of high reviews talking about their unique dishes so we had to come try it out. The restaurant is in a cute little building but it is FREEZING. Not sure if their heater wasn’t working the day we visited (12/24/22) but we had to keep our coats on the entire time. Our waitress was very kind and provided great service. Prices are a bit high for a single dish but well worth it for the tasty/unique Creme Brulee French Toast – never had anything like that before. It was like sinking your teeth into a cloud, so fluffy and so delicious. We loved trying something so different. We are looking forward to trying additional dishes on our next visit.

The food is pretty incredible! They’re known for their hot chocolate which is so rich and chocolatey it’s basically dessert in a mug. Service was super friendly and the staff were busy but having a good time laughing with each other. It’s in an old home, so it’s pretty chilly and cramped. I like the aesthetic and the bathroom is decorated in cool memorable way too.

What an absolute delight of an eatery! The staff (hostess Taylor and waitress Kelly for our time here) was outstanding and so sweet to interact with, and really made this visit special. The food, of course, was FABULOUS. Portion sizes are very generous, and you will almost certainly have leftovers to take with you. I cannot wait until we come back to try something new!

This place is BUSY. We went here for the first time on a Saturday morning and had about an hour wait, which after speaking with the other guests waiting is pretty typical for this place. The food was good, the Bloody Mary was out of this world, but the waiters were some of the rudest I’ve encountered. When we walked in there was a sign to wait to be greeted, which we did, for about 20 minutes. During that time at least 3 different waitress (even the hostess) walked past us (and other people waiting to put in their name/be greeted) delivering food to tables. Not even a “Hello!, “Welcome!” “We’ll be with you in x minutes..” no eye contact. They just looked down and we’re hoping you didn’t ask them to be helped. Finally after 15-20 mins we asked one of the ladies who walked by if we could put our name in and mentioned we had been waiting awhile (and that there were a lot of us waiting). Her tone was super rude as she told us someone would be with us when they could. We felt very uncomfortable after that but I wanted to see what all the great reviews were about. I got the eggs Benedict and it was okay (not worth the hour wait and rude servers). The Bloody Mary on the other hand… delicious & possibly worth the wait (get it spicy & with the bacon!!). I wouldn’t go back but if you’re in the area, go get a Bloody Mary if you don’t mind a long wait!

This was an experience! The wait was well worth it! I sat at the bar which was great getting to see all the drinks being made. If your a Bloody Mary fan they looked delicious! I ordered the chicken fried steak. It was huge! It came on its own plate and the sides all came on a separate plate. It’s definitely sharable or great for left overs. Super tasty! I highly recommend!

Can I give it a six??? This is one of the best breakfast places I have ever been to. The whole family was super happy with their meals, and the omelets are as good as advertised. I don’t usually like omelets, but had a bite of my wife’s and wished I had ordered one myself. Highly recommended, and if we come back to Salem, we will go here again for sure. Pictures show that nothing was left behind. 🙂

Best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had! A cozy spot, hiding if you don’t look hard enough. Food was delicious, and staff went above and beyond. We had a table of 8 adults and 8 children under 4 years of age, food was out quick, my coffee cup was never empty, and the waitresses were so incredibly patient and kind. 10/10 would dine there again!

Great food and even better service. From the moment you walk in till the moment you walk out, you know darn well why they have been in biz for 40 years! #43 is my favorite…

Absolutely delicious omelettes that come with two sides! We got pancakes and hash browns. Kind, personable servers. They don’t just fold the omelette on itself so that the fillings spill out and are difficult to get in each bite. They mix the fillings into the eggs and then create the omelette! Highly recommend.

This was a great breakfast. It was my first time. This place has been around for a while. Great menu options and good pricing. I would recommend breakfast here any time. It’s busy, so get here early.
