  Humane is in the name but when you arrange for them to put down your pet, they put you in a room and do a health check on your pet, then decide they don’t want to do it. So the owner has sorrow upon sorrow as you made the decision, wait three days to get an appointment. Then you go in and are placed in a room to wait and wait while they do a health check and then make a decision to NOT do the procedure. That is in-humane to the owner. Change your name!! Need to put on your website the info that you make the decision to end a pets life, NOT the owner of the pet who has lived through the decline, obeys Oregon law and decides to humanely end the pets life. Don’t use the Oregon in-humane society!! The rest of the story… I took the dog home and for 19 more days watched her suffer and decline. She died the morning of April 9th. 🎵Dead Puppies…aren’t much fun. They don’t come when you call, they don’t chase squirrels at all. Dead Puppies aren’t much fun🎶

  My partner and I have donated to Oregon Humane in the past and fully trusted them to facilitate a safe and responsible adoption for a 6 month old kitten to join our 10 year old cat at home. When meeting the kitten for the first time, we were asked if there were any concerns that would give us pause on adopting the kitten. We expressed that any major transmissible health issues would probably be a deal breaker for us because we already have a 10 year old cat. The representative replied that the kitten had been getting over a small cold and is starting to feel much better. The kitten had been at the shelter for 1 or 2 days, visited the vet one day to get neutered and vaxxed, and treated for said cold. We took the kitten home that day and took him to our vet the next. Our vet immediately commented that Oregon Humane is known for not testing for feline leukemia, so he got tested there and thankfully didn’t have it. This rubbed us the wrong way, Oregon Humane should have brought this up in the adoption process and should have offered the test before we left, especially because we raised our concerns for our other cat’s health. Also, Oregon Humane’s vet had failed to see that our kitten had a golf ball sized burn on his side that hadn’t properly healed over. This required our vet to trim back the sides of the wound so we could properly medicate it. The “little cold” that my kitten was “getting over” lasted for over a month and eventually got my other cat sick despite keeping them separate for weeks. After treating my kitten’s burn and cold and my other cat’s cold, I have probably dispensed over 100 doses of medicine since this adoption. I’m disappointed in Oregon Humane for not prioritizing the health of their cats and instead seems to be focused on churning through adoptions at a rapid pace. The only message or phone call I’ve received from them since the adoption was a phone call asking to donate.

  I am giving this place zero number because they did not take care of my cat properly. He was bleeding after the surgery when I tried to pick him up and I went back from my car back to the building and asked the nurse and the doctor and the front desk girl to help me because my cat was still bleeding and they informed that it’s normal. I have asked for a paper towel or any hygiene products and they brought tiny pierce of paper. We needed help help at that moment and left my cat in a bleeding situation without any proper care. This place needs to be shut down because they don’t have any moral manners any professionalism how to treat people how to be respectful and zero care to pets , the vet-Kayla Harris license # 8712 was the worst in there showed zero respect and was so careless. I had to take my cat to emergency room after their mess. They don’t even know how properly to take care of pets after surgery. Hundred times zero all of them, disgusting place.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

  The thrift store had an awesome sale and we were able to buy several shirts and clothes for a great price! Also, the cats and kittens were adorable and they made my day. The employees were all so nice and welcoming.

The love and care they give all their kitties brings me to tears, I just want to say thank you for letting me adopt my two girls.They have been doing so great, and are adapting well.   This is a absolutely amazing and genuine organization!! They go above and beyond not only for the cats that are in their care, but for the cats that are in the local community as well. My first experience with them was when I went there and adopted a cat from them. His name is Mr.MeowMeow and he is also a cat they rescued who was found on the streets with a eye injury who ended up needing a eye enucleation. They were very kind and patient for the whole experience especially with my six year old daughter who had lotsss of questions😅 He has been the biggest, blessing and greatest addition to our family 🐈‍⬛but my most recent experience with them is why I am taking the time to write this. Recently a stray orange cat showed up on my porch with a head injury, and I was not in a position where I would be able to assist him myself. I reached out to a facebook group and was connected to them and they instantly agreed to take on fostering him, and getting him medical attention. They partnered with a local trapper, who came out and transported him from me to them. He has now been neutered and adopted and has gotten the second chance at life that he deserves!! I could not recommend this organization more!! The photos are of my cat. The orange kitty with his injury, during his intake, and his adoption. 10/10 would recommend!

  Our cat Luci had snuck into our spare bedroom and fell from a second story window, breaking his rear leg. We had taken him to an emergency vet that quoted us $8000 to fix the leg with very low chances of success, and $6000 to amputate. This was unacceptable pricing that we had no way of paying unless we waited over 6 to 8 months to do surgery that he needed now. We were worried sick we would have to surrender him, but after calling around, we were able to find a vet able to do it for $1200, including an exam, the surgery, medicine, and check-up as well as keeping him an extra night for observation. To pay for this, I had to take a personal loan from family to be able to afford his surgery without missing rent. We had just gotten the confirmation a few hours prior that his surgery was successful, and he was resting. Three hours later, Friends of Felines contacted us preparing to tell us that they could fully fund his surgery and get him in tomorrow. We let them know the update, and they still decided to fund $500 of his surgery and that they will be calling the Reid Veterinary Hospital in Albany first thing tomorrow to pay. I am astonished that if we had waited just a little longer, his surgery would have been fully paid for, but we had no idea this would happen after everywhere else quoted us several thousand dollars to even just amputate the broken leg and he needed the surgery as soon as possible before the sedatives the emergency vet gave us were gone and he was in extreme pain again. We wanted to wait as little as possible to avoid the risk of complications. I believe her name was Chelsey. We had called them prior to see if they could do their surgery as they were recommended by friends, but if I remember correctly, they had not done amputations in a long time and quoted us a price over $2000. The person we originally spoke too, must’ve continued asking if there was anything they could do, and Chelsey reached out to us. I am so grateful for Friends of Feline for their contribution and preparedness to fund the surgery as a whole, they had seen Luci and his brother several months before to be neutered and get their shots. They asked nothing in return, so I decided to just post this review, and my partner posted on Facebook and Yelp. If you need anything, I highly recommend reaching out to Friends of Felines to review their resources! I will be recommending them and calling them in the future ahead of time. After reviewing most of these 1 Star reviews, it seems it is the peoples own fault for their bad experiences. I have only had good experiences with Friends of Felines and that’s coming from a lesbian couple that gets discriminated against almost everywhere else. They took good care of both of them, and have only been kind.

  My daughter and I found a sweet old cat who was in need of help. He was skinny, cold, wet & hungry. We wrapped him in a blanket and drove straight to Friends of Felines. We were greeted by the sweetest ladies, and he was immediately placed into a kennel with food, water and a litter box. Extremely impressed and thankful for the love and dedication the animal caretakers have here. They are very knowledgeable and loving towards the cats that come into their care. She gathered as much information as possible and told me he would be looked over by a vet shortly. Such a wonderful place!
