What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. My husband and I recently adopted a dog from Austin Animal Center, and she’s become the perfect addition to our little crew (already had a rescue cat and rescue dog). Thank you so much AAC for making the adoption process easy, simple and fun! Our new little lady has already brought so much joy and love to our lives.

  2. Adopted a dog that was struggling with shelter life. All for the low price of free. He came pre-loaded with several features: fetch, leash walking, house trained, sit, and running through tubes (premium feature, treats required).

The staff was great, they have so many dogs to care for but you can tell how much they care

  3. In January of 2021, I adopted a dog that most would consider to have very difficult behavior. His intake form listed him as a red dot, which I assume is the most unfriendly, aggressive label they give dogs at the shelter. Rather than give up on this dog, they worked with him for 8 months and made an effort to get him in a foster home outside of the stressful shelter environment. When their hard work paid off and the dog showed signs of being willing to trust people, I found him on their website and adopted him. If you can’t already tell by the pictures, he is the happiest boy and has been to 23 states and 2 countries – traveling with me. He’s still not a huge fan of strangers, and is a little too good at being a watch dog, but I wouldn’t trade him for any other companion. It would have been easy for this shelter to give up on him and I’m sure many other shelters would have, but because they didn’t I now have the most wonderful dog. Couldn’t be more grateful for the staffs’ time and patience so that I could eventually find Jasper.

  4. Had to drop the cutest pup I found off at the AAC. Despite it being after hours, they took him in. Super kind people! Grateful they gave him a warm place to sleep and a forever home!

  5. For my first time going there, it was an amazing experience. A pretty big facility with a wide range of dogs and cats. The staff and volunteers there were very helpful and friendly. And thanks to them I was able to find my forever friend. Would definitely recommend people to go here, and maybe in the near future I’d probably go again.

They set me up with a matchmaker to help me find the right dog. It was my first dog ever after I lost my cat of 17 years. The staff let me meet multiple dogs, talked about my fears in regards to adopting and helped me land on this amazing dog. They knew what my life was like and helped me get matched with a dog that would meet me where I was and wanted to be. I love this dog. I love the support I have around adopting her. I am so thankful for the support of this amazing organization.

We recently adopted the most wonderful and loving little guy from Austin Pets Alive. The staff is very caring and helpful in such a big responsibility and decision making process. They go above and beyond to help and make sure things go smoothly and easily. We stay in touch and they answer all my questions and concerns. I’m so glad to have been able to find the perfect little man.

I volunteer here and the staff/volunteers really do right by the pups and kitties. It’s hard work and a lot of money to run a shelter, especially when they give treatment to the sick/injured animals many other shelters would orange list and put down. Amazing to find a no kill shelter with a national network.

Wonderful organization. I adopted 2 wonderful, healthy pups from them. They are very organized and know what they are doing. Very supportive after the adoption as well. Winter aka Charlie and Sage aka Lola.

We met our new best friend at APA at Tarrytown and fell in love immediately. The power was out at the location when we came the following morning to adopt our dude, but the team helped us get him home! They went above and beyond, and now our family feels complete again!

I adopted a cat and it was the best decision I made. The staffs were so helpful and provided great suggestions and recommendations on animal care since I was having a pet for the first time. The cat was vaccinated and spayed. You can also visit the animal you like in a separate room and enjoy playing with them. There are also cat rooms where you can simply walk in and play or pat the cats. Love the place and really made my day! I encourage to visit the animals and help provide them a new home.

Great staff, great space, great experience! I volunteered for the first time here and it was a very great experience! I walked three dogs(it was part if my training) and i absolutely loved it. Kathy was my trainee and she was the best. From the way she explained and walked us through the process! For anyone wanting to spend time and volunteer Austin Humane Society is a great start! Here i walked both Dead(white&cream) he was the nicest bug buddy& great for petting:) And Pudding(black) she was just so adorable and energetic.

Arranged to TNR a Community Cat and picked him up post-op after my neighbor dropped him off. I’d TNR’d 21 neighborhood feral cats with AHS about 12 years ago, and they’ve done a great job of clearly codifying and publishing new procedures on their website. I needed to email regarding the special case of Toast (pictured), and AHS was respnsive, pleasant, and helpful at every turn. These folks are doing good work.
