  2. Trained here while traveling for work. Very welcoming staff and super cool students. Their facilities are awesome! Jake taught NoGi and it was a great class. Had great rolls too. If I lived in DC, I’d definitely train here! I’ll be back every time I’m in the DC Metro area. High recommend.

  3. It was my first time visiting Beta Academy and it was a great experience! The staff was very welcoming and immediately gave a tour of the facility. The facility was well kept, organized and tidy. The instructors were very engaging with the students and patient with all the newcomers. The environment was very positive and high energy. Everyone was very kind and inviting to one of the best another – it felt like one big family. I enjoyed it so much that I became a member! As a small business owner myself, I have a critical eye for how businesses are conducted and I’m very satisfied with Beta Academy! I’m grateful for such a pleasant experience and am looking forward to becoming part of the Beta family : )

  4. Beta was my first gym for BJJ and MT. I absolutely loved the staff. The environment is caring and geared towards learning and comradely. Highly recommend starting with Beta. First demo class in either art is free!

  5. Wish I found this amazing academy earlier. It’s a child and parent’s dream come true! Safe, peaceful, nurturing, supportive space to empower the entire family. Coaches are great! The students have the utmost respect 4 their coaches, which is most helpful when the coaches remind them 2 be respectful and neat. When I win the lottery, I’m donating a larger space 2 BETA, so they can inspire more kids! You gotta experience this place. It changed our lives in 1 visit. 😍📣😎💯

    This is a special gym. First and foremost, it is a friendly and safe place to train. Whether you are interested in training for competition or as a hobby the gym is a great place to learn and grow. I personally train BJJ and love the academy and the people who train here. Just top notch. I also can’t say enough about the kids program. First off, any given class will have 3-5 senior belt adults looking after the class, providing a safe and extremely well-managed program. The main teacher, Kamal, is truly an elite fighter (UFC level), and provides amazing instruction to the little ones. To give a feel for the ethos of this gym, I want to share a picture from today’s class. Charles, an instructor and member of the management team, saw that my son (who is special needs) was having a tough time, and just decided to sit with my guy for half the class. He has done this time and again, going out of his way to make my son feel welcome and cared for at the gym. Other clubs have asked my son to leave or made him feel like a bad apple, but not District. They guys are amazing and I am so grateful for the kindness they have shown to my kids. A+.

    As someone new to martial arts I didn’t know what to expect, but all their coaches are very patient and very knowledgeable. They prioritize technique for the intro classes. And as a former wrestler they have a great advanced wrestler class with fellow D1 Wrestlers. Their variety of classes will keep you coming back for more, so you can advanced your skills.     Great location! Great instructors! Great students! So supportive and willing to work with you! The gym is very accommodating and helpful! If you’re looking a gym to start mma, or to increase your skills, you’re going to be very happy with the enormous amount of options at District MMA!

    District MMA is a phenomenal training gym. I trained there a few times and used to go the the morning boxing classes with instructor Noel. He was very patient and helped me understand the fundamentals like stance, footwork, and how to throw punches. The workouts are also really good. I would be drenched in sweat after my classes. And everyone is really friendly and welcoming.

    The best martial arts school in the DMV area and it’s not even close. The instructors are excellent and invested in their students, and the gym has a welcoming and competitive atmosphere. I highly recommend DMA for anyone interested in trying jiu jitsu/boxing/etc, or serious competitor, as DMA is the highest quality there is.

The atmosphere of excellence is present whether you go train in the morning or evening; you’ll always see pros and world champions training. It’s a very welcoming place for people who just want to go in and lose weight, the elderly, even people who never threw one punch in their life. Master Donnie, Master Lloyd, Coach Jamal I’ve always been able to reach out and talk with them after classes.     I love this gym!! I’ve been coming to this gym since 1998. It’s always felt like home to me. If I want a hard push, I get it. Just drilling and technique, I get it. They work with my injuries and training schedules as my life has changed over 22 years. Now I take my kids and my nephews to visit with me and they get the same fantastic treatment. If you’re looking for a home, look here first. It’s a family first gym that just happens to produce a lot of world champions too!! And neither the family environment or world champion development happened by accident. It is the brain child of one of the smartest, hard working and devoted people I’ve ever met – Master Lloyd Irvin. See you on the mat!!

    Lloyd Irvin Mixed Martial Arts Academy is an amazing institution. The personal experiences that my family and I have had over the years have been life changing. Training with Lloyd Irvin helped reignite the principles and commitment to excellence that were instilled in me growing up and during my time in the military. He and his staff were always respectful and helpful willing to stop and take a moment to chat about anything from martial arts to life, politics and movies. Stopping in for a brief visit in 2008 was one of the best things I could have ever done in regards to life long personal investment.

    I have been at Lloyd Irvin Mixed Martial Arts with my son since he was 3 years old (he’s 8 now). I have thoroughly enjoyed the instruction and discipline that has been taught to him. I’ve liked it so much so that I began talking classes myself over a year ago. Since taking classes, I’ve lost a tremendous amount of weight and improved my overall health and fitness level. LIMMA is more than a gym, it is a family oriented establishment with a circle of people that will motivate and support you in achieving your goals.
