She has been there for a couple years now. I am not one to leave online reviews and I must admit that this is a new venture for me, but one I was happy to undertake. Their Marketer who used to be the Activities Director (and a great one at that) reached out to me and asked if I would leave a review. My mother lived at one other before she moved here, so I can say that no community if perfect, but the staff of Woodland Heights are kind, very accommodating, and they stick around. The food has only gotten better as their current chef who has been at Woodland Heights for maybe six months or so is the best they have had so far. Housekeeping is wonderful. Their Housekeeping Director has been there for quite some time, the whole time the building has been open, some 31 years. All in all, it is a great place and she is very happy with the staff, what the building offers, and the friends she has made there.By Ally Rich (3 years ago)The community has beautiful views and is very clean. Jane was very welcoming and informative on levels of care offered and services, the apartment had a nice walk in shower. As a resident here for almost 2 years my wife and I have found Parkway to be very good offering “stress free” living. We love the socialization almost everyday. If not while dining then perhaps during a game of water volleyball or at one of the many activities either put on by admin or something between several great neighbors. It is very comforting knowing that you can travel without any worry about things here what with 24 hour security. 87 beautiful acres with wonderful people spread throughout. A great place for a walk morning or evening the way we used to enjoy walks, carefree with neighbors to visit with along the way. Did I mention “whole hog” BBQ!
Did you know Parkway Village is raising rent nine percent, after telling residents rent raises wouldn’t exceed three percent per year? Raising rent to this degree is inhumane, given the captive, disadvantaged nature of their elderly tenants. I expected better from a facility that claims to care about the elderly, whose care was entrusted to Parkway Village. What are the residents supposed to do, spring up out of their wheelchairs, pack their bags, learn how to use a computer, and arrange a move to a less predatory facility? Parkway Village knows they have these folks backed into a corner, and they are taking full advantage.
Parkway village, the Retirement community housing both grandmother-in-laws of mine, is raising rates 9% despite an agreement that rates wouldn’t rise more than 3%. During a post Covid economy, raising 9% despite no change in market labor costs, flat real energy costs, and is 2.5% higher than the 6.5% inflation experienced in 2022. This is not only unethical, it is also immoral
Claiming to care about the residents of the facility while raising rates for tenants by 9% when the previously agreed upon increases would not exceed 3% is a blatantly disrespectful and hypocritical act.
We have been there twice for tours recently while gathering information about Parkway living. We are looking forward to that one phone call so we can join the fun. It just felt like home to us.
