What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. We sat at the bar because the restaurant was full. The bartender was prompt with menus and a drink. We split the beet salad and the seared scallops entree. The kitchen served us two plates and the presentation was beautiful. It is true that you first eat with your eyes and they did not disappoint. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the salad was amazing. The bartender made us feel as if we were his only customers. I would take my mother here! Wonderful!

  2. The chicken salad and bread was enough to take the hangry away. The margarita helped also. The atmosphere is great for brunch and mimosas. The chicken was flavored well and the greens were fresh. This reminded me of being in Europe. I will visit again to get another chicken salad. My waiter was awesome. I can’t remember his name but he was then best!! An absolutely must visit!!

  3. Some of the finest and tastiest French cuisine you will find. The food is always so good. Our server took great care of us. Highly recommend brunch and please make a reservation.

  4. The place is awesome and the service is great! The food came out beautifully and very delicious! The servers were warm and friendly. The ambiance was very nice and very French – from the music, the decor, and the food! Highly recommend this place!! I would love to try their dinner menu, too at some point! Maybe next time we visit Richmond.

Please make a reservation if you are planning to dine! Came here on a VERY busy Sunday and thank God we had a reservation!

  5. We sat at the bar for Sunday brunch. The bartenders are fantastic. A good variety of drink options with a classic presentation. Food quality and flavor was excellent. Perfect brunch spot but I strongly recommend getting a reservation because the restaurant fills up quickly.

The atmosphere is eclectic and unique, the cocktails are well crafted, the wine selection is great, and the food is unbeatable. Everything we ordered was equally delicious. Great for a fancy date night or splurge-worthy event.

Just had our second experience here since moving to Richmond, and let me tell you this place is a gem. Everything top to tail absolutely exceeds expectations—the food, the drinks, the service are all beyond reproach. I’ve tended bar in Michelin starred restaurants and this place absolutely deserves to ranked among them. Get me on the horn with the Michelin Man, I’ve got some words for that French Tire Cryptid. But seriously, this place rules, I cannot stress that enough. Get some champagne, escargot, and let the rest of the menu take you for a ride. You won’t be disappointed.

Amazing restaurant. Husband had big easy chicken and it was amazing 🤩. I had the crab cakes. We’re Marylanders and Virginians .. when I was it was superb I mean it! We honeymooned in France and truly the L’escargots we’re on par, hell, above par! Our waitress, Susan was super sweet and attentive without being overly in the way. It was my birthday and we didn’t go for dessert (probably a mistake) and they still brought me out a candle. How sweet!!!

I’ve been 3 times. My first 2 visits get a 6/5 for service and food. My last visit was good on food, underwhelming on service. Overall, I’d say this is some of the best (and most beautiful) food in Richmond. The ambience is fantastic. Absolutely unlike anything else in Richmond. I don’t really eat meat, but I did have a small bite of the beef swellington, and it’s been referred to by more than one of my carnivorous companions as “the best cut of beef in the city”. Cocktails are fun and interesting. I mean… a jockstrap on a cocktail glass? Yes. Wine list is comprehensive. Mint-infused water actually tastes like mint. Fabulous. I had the cabbage dish without the cheese on my last visit, and though it was very salty, it’s no small task to make a vegan dish taste like a gourmet dish. The split pea and crab soup I had (pictured) was unreal – a different flavor in literally every bite. Deviled eggs are prettier than they are tasty, but they’re pretty enough to make up for that. I’ve eaten at a few Michelin star restaurants in the US and Europe, and this goes toe to toe. It’s hard to get in, so if you can, take a later ressie. I felt super rushed by my server on this last visit. All we could get was 5pm. I hadn’t seen my companion in 2 years and we were very efficient about ordering, and spent about $250 on one app, 2 mains and drinks. It’s not really okay to drop dessert menus by while people are still eating, and to look at your watch while refilling wine glasses, at a restaurant of this caliber. Maybe she was just new. Sensing her anxiety, I had her cash us out and asked to move to the sofa to finish our wine. After that, the whole tone of the service shifted completely. There was a lovely gentleman who came and refilled our water, even though we said we’d be out of their hair soon and it was unnecessary. It didn’t feel great to pay that much for dinner and feel like we were being rushed, when I would’ve been fine with “just want to make you aware the next reservation is at X time” and let us manage the time. That’s my only negative feedback. Otherwise, this place is superb, and you can get a New York City quality meal for the price of a nicer Richmond meal here. Highly recommend. (Side note: I hate clowns. But the clown decor works here. And only here. Don’t try it at home).

Amazing experience at the L’Opossum. The menu is so creative and unique! I enjoyed the baked oysters straight from heaven and the chicken dish with crawfish creole dressing was mind blowing. My server Shauna was so knowledgeable. I told her what my taste was and she matched it perfectly. Amazing experience! Bringing my wife next time on our Anny!

Delicious crepe! We ordered the salmon, hamburger, and strawberry+banana+Nutella. All of them are delicious, but next time I’d probably skip the savory crepes and try more sweet crepes. Steak salad is good, but not amazing. The restaurant ambience is cozy, and the staff are friendly.

I didn’t have a good experience here. It looks super nice and elegant. However the experience is definitely not. We were seated with ease and waters came out relatively quickly. The waiter did take our order rather quickly. However we had ordered additional drinks that took awhile to receive, like 20 minutes, well after the entrees came out for my wife and kids. However the dude helping the waiter placed their orders down and asked if we needed anything else, I replied my food, he said he would go check on it. When he came out it was evident that he forgot about my meal. He did apologize for the incident so that was nice. My meal came out really once most of my party had already finished. I took three bites in my food which was good by the way to uncover a hair on my plate under my food! I let them know and by this point was in no way in the mood to eat. The check came out relatively quickly after that, which they did take off my meal, however I walked away still hungry and kinda sad with the experience. Sad to say I will not be back.

Cute ambiance and environment for a quick date and very kind wait staff. Very walkable to the rest of Carytown which is perfect for a nice day but made for a chilly walk in February since parking is rather difficult to find. We got the Berries Farm crepe (pictured) and the Burger crepe, both of which were very good but lacking in that special and extra taste that would give the establishment 5 stars.

Cute place. We had reservations for two for 8:15 on a Saturday night. The lobster ravioli was quite good, unfortunately just warm, not hot like we like it. The sweet desserts were disappointing. The presentation was amazing, but they came unexpectedly cold. I’ve had crepes in many places and even when served with ice cream the inside and dough were warm. Lastly, the service was not very attentive. After being served, our waitress did not return until after we were finished. We will not be returning.

We sat on the patio which is quite lovely. The crapes range from the desert crêpes around 12 to the most expensive over 27. They are not the cheapest crapes but they are well-made and quite tasty. I had the French crêpe I personally thought it was a little bit too heavy I wish they had some lighter crepes. They are very dog friendly and even brought a bowl of water for my friend’s dog!
