  2. My son has found his first passion that he takes serious. He loves going and he wants to be good at everything he learns. He’s been more verbal and been focused more since joining. He stands in the driveway and practices his chucks and he has kick pads to work on his kicks at home. I love taking him and watching him learn with confidence. All the instructors at Sun are great! It’s definitely worth my time effort and money.

  3. This is the best place to bring yourself and your whole family. We have been here for over a year and she has done nothing but thrive. They have done nothing but give and help our kiddo since she started. They are like an extension of our family and we love them so much!!! Please start your martial arts journey here you will not regret it!

  4. Three of my kids joined a few months ago and they love it. They are excited about going each week and look forward to every class. The instructors are awesome with the kids, they teach them discipline and help them build self confidence. Everyone at Sun Martial Arts has been great and I am glad we found them. My kids have made big changes in their attitudes, work ethic and fitness because of these classes.

  5. Master Hawk, Dragon and Team is doing amazing job. My son is really enjoying this place. He is in Dynamite class which is a toddler class of different ages between 3 and 6. Making them focus and repeat the stances is really a challenging effort however Master Dragon and team is expert in this. They are making kids focus and helping them with correct poses and stances. It is a great place with positive atmosphere. If you would like your kid to strive with great skills, focus and discipline, this is the place to nurture it.

    Fight to Win delivers the best training experience I’ve seen. As I travel for work I occasionally train in BJJ while on the road. So I’ve probably been to half a dozen different BJJ gyms. The quality of training, the professionalism, and the positive atmosphere are head and shoulders above the rest. I’ve trained at FTW Charlotte for over two years now. I can safely say that it offers the best BJJ self defense training, cardio training, and strength training combination I could possibly imagine. Same goes for the kids program as well!

    The most professional and most welcoming martial arts training facility that my family and I have ever had the pleasure of being involved. The team treats you like family. Professor Steve Hall’s knowledge and mannerisms far exceed expectation. Professor Jon Plyler is also extremely knowledgeable and a great instructor.     been training here for about a year and my kids for about 3 years. i could not recommend it more highly. the instructors are wonderful, patient, engaged, and talented. the instruction follows a plan so you actually develop in a structured way. the whole place is supportive of everyone that goes there. and Steve is great.

    There are many good places to train in the Charlotte and LKN area, but if you are looking for the biggest variety of training partners from all skills levels, Charlotte Jiu-Jitsu Academy is the place to be. As someone who has trained on and off for over 10 years, I can say that this school is special. Whether you are a beginner who has never stepped foot on the mats or a seasoned vet, this is one of if not THE best place to train in the area.

    I had the pleasure of training with John Piper and the team at CJJ while in town visiting family. The gym is new, the team was welcoming and the rolls were fun and very challenging. John was gracious, very welcoming, and one of the best representations of not only jiu jitsu but american jiu jitsu. I have been fortunate to drop by some world class gyms while traveling but this one feels like it’s a lab for grappling. There’s something special here you can feel if you stay around for a couple sessions. If I was still moving here, I would be signing up at this gym as my first choice since i train both gi and no gi, love to wrestle and compete. Its special here. Its exactly like what you feel when looking at the website–open, fun, and everyone is going to test your skills here. Wear anything you want here, express your style, just be a good training partner and a good sport. Additionally, I have had questions of his crucifix setup for several months and he not only demonstrated it on me every single roll (everytime, my arm magically stopped working for me and was used against me), he basically also turned his gi and no gi class into a partial seminar just because I asked about this unstoppable move. He didn’t have to do this and yet he showed more than just the move — he went into the “why” conceptually and options…he was this passionate about teaching a visitor, and it really resonated with me. I was deeply impressed by this. He did not have to give this kind of depth. I tried to pay a drop in fee but they dont have this setup yet. Tried to buy merchandise or a patch as i like to collect patch/gear during visit but nothing yet. I hope to do so on the next visit, they deserve the support and as humble as John is about this gym, this place shines bright in general, not just in Charlotte. Awesome gym, owner, and environment. Thank you Josh, Jeff, and everyone else for also welcoming me and the rolls. Next time I’m in town, I will be stopping in here again to train. There’s a difference in gyms like these. I Highly recommend if you are in Charlotte and love this style of jiu jitsu training and environment.

    A phenomenal martial arts school full of passionate students and knowledgeable, mindful instruction. John Piper is one of the most respected names in North Carolina Jiu Jitsu and after training with and observing not only him but his students it’s easy to see why.

    I’m from out of town and was looking for a school that was easy for drop ins. Coach Piper was extremely friendly and quick to respond to my questions. I dropped in for a Gi tech/ spar class. It was a great experience. The room was full, but not overly crowded and had a wide range of experienced practitioners to learn from. Everyone was welcoming and I had no problem find partners willing to roll. They have a lot of offerings in the class schedule too (Gi/ no Gi/ all levels). I’ll definitely drop in again when I’m in town.
