What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. I’ll start with the bad, expect to wait, a lot. If you’re planning to stop by for a quick breakfast or brunch meal, go elsewhere. Waiting to be seated took long enough but even after the fact, we were forgotten on completely. I wish I were kidding but from the moment we sat down to the moment we got our food it was a bit past an hour, which is insane for a small establishment that wasn’t too busy.

The saving grace of the restaurant was its food, as well as one particular gentleman, Marquis. I very well may be misspelling it or be getting the name wrong entirely but it was a younger man behind the bar area. He noticed we got missed and was attentive for the rest of the day with our drinks and check. If not for him our impression of the establishment would be severely diminished as everyone else working was just nonexistent.

The food itself was great. Well seasoned, great serving size, reasonably priced. Honestly the small quaint French cafe theme is charming as well. Overall a good experience if you have plenty of time on your hands. Get better workers, Marquis’ back must be broken from carrying the entire service team.

  2. Brunch today with a good group of friends. I always saw this place but never went into any of their locations until today.

Very friendly and attentive service. The atmosphere was very chill and light. I’m generally not a brunch or a breakfast person but this place is one of my new exceptions.

Breakfast – had a salmon hash with over easy eggs. And it was so filling but not too heavy like most hash breakfast is. It was a very great post work out delicious breakfast. It comes with a croissant with a red jam which was a delicious add on.

I had their old fashion and for a brunch place, I was pleasantly surprised that their old fashion was spot on. Also I made sure to ask if their old fashion was served in a single ice cube as some other places serve it with multiple ice cubes (it makes a difference, even tho I sound super pretentious). But I loved that the server was so receptive to my question.

  3. INCREDIBLE SERVICE!! The staff was so welcoming and made us feel right at home. They were well versed in the menu and refilled our drinks plenty of times. We got the BLT, Banana French toast, and eggs Benedict and I would highly reccomend all of them! Their croissants especially are amazing and flacky. This is a great breakfast stop in Portland

  4. This was my first time at a Petite Provence. The experience was nothing short of magical. The service was fabulous, everyone was kind and attentive. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, I don’t think I could have made a bad choice. I had the polenta and poached eggs with sauteed spinach, mushrooms and bacon. Of course I had to get a croissant, perfection. I got dessert but could barely finish it. I would definitely recommend this spot for brunch, bring your appetite!

  5. The croissants are amazing with the jam.i over heard another people also saying they could just eat the Croissants and be happy. The food was great too. They let the Monte Cristo bind together for a day before frying the sandwich. Its well blended. There are plenty of pastries to choose from if your just doing carry out. But it’s a nice place to enjoy for a bit.

01/08/2022: 4.0 out of 5 – It has been awhile since I came to Petite Provence Boulangerie & Patisserie. A few of us from my Saturday running group showed up. The establishment had changed its table layout, and a few other things. However, the place was still impressively clean and the table layout does seem to allow more seating. It was as noisy as it usually is, but we didn’t have to yell or text across the table to have a conversation. The staff were friendly and very professional. Clean, attentive, quick and responsive without the intrusion. Now the food and drinks. What can I say? It was okay. It was plated nicely, but the taste seemed bland. Not like how it was, considering I’ve ordered many of the items on Petite Provence’s menu in the past. All in all, at the end of any meal I often will ask, “Would you come back?” My answer if given the opportunity? Most likely since the staff are great, and the establishment doesn’t partake in any for of discrimination. So, if you ever get a chance, try it once and decide for yourself. Enjoy!

Breakfast was delicious but we had a pretty lengthy wait for a Monday morning. It was well with the it! The service was good, the food even better! Our family got a wide range of dishes and they were all delicious! I tried the corned beef hash with horseradish and shallot sauce. It was extraordinary. The hash browns were a little greasy tasting but overall the flavors were complex and complementary! They have a great selection of delightful looking pastries as well! Definitely pay this place a visit if you’re in the area!

Excellent lunch and service was great. I ended up walking down division around lunchtime and decided to stop in a Petite Provence. I’ve been to PPBP many times over the past few decades and never disappointed with the food or service. True to form the food was great again today. BLT on Croissant was delicious and the French onion soup a perfect. Dessert is always tasty and again today was no exception. Prices are reasonable Sidewalk seating was decent and plentiful. Restrooms clean Service by Liam was exceptional—there but not hovering! Final take—Strongly recommended

I don’t often give five stars but the food I had here was worth it. 10/10 I live in Washington but would move to be closer to this food. I had the salmon Benedict and having a Benedict on a croissant is a game changer but it’s also the way the croissant is made, it’s so fresh and buttery. It came with a squash/potato side and I didn’t even think I liked squash until I had it here. My friend said it was the best hollandaise she had ever had and I agree, everything was fresh, well thought out and expertly executed. To accompany we had the mimosa flight we chose two lavander, strawberry and raspberry. Everything was amazing. I have been looking at the videos and planning a trip to go back already.

Loved the experience and food from beginning to end. Arrived to realize that I booked the wrong Saturday but they squeezed us in thankfully. The Higgins Manhattan was delicious as well as the house made meats board. Loved the steak, salmon, and chicken specials. Thanks for taking care of us!

We came here for our wedding anniversary tonight and it was absolutely phenomenal. We started with mussels which were in an amazing ginger plum sauce that was light and delicious. The entrees (pictured in this review) were also to die for, and everything down to the food presentation was beyond my expectations. I got the Kakavia which I would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys seafood, and my husband got the Yucatán-style pork stew that had very tender meat. We will definitely be back!

Went for lunch. Had clams, oysters and mushrooms. Friend ordered the buckwheat crepe. Loved the liver mouse pate with cognac. Everything was delicious. I liked sharing and trying the dishes. Will return.

Stumbled upon this place while searching Google maps for a restaurant in downtown nearby to my hotel to meet up with a local friend in Portland. He’s familiar with many of the top restaurants, but had never been to this one though it’s been on his list for a while! Relaxed atmosphere with staff that really care about the food and your experience. Our waiter had been working there for 29 years and had helped found the restaurant! I was excited to try the dishes with locally sourced ingredients, and we shared the salmon (pictured) which was really nice and a very substantial pork dish with sausage and a meatball. In hindsight, would have ordered the ling cod as a lighter dish but enjoyed my dinner here.
