What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Cozy little place for great brunch!
We went there for Saturday brunch. There was a 20 minute wait but the service was quick and so good! There’s both indoor and outdoor seating.
Mocha is to die for- easily one of the best I had in the Bay area. the potato and carmelized onion omelette was bland to my taste but still good!

  2. Food: 3/5
    Service: 3.5/5
    Ambiance 3.5/5
Overall: This place was packed and there was a slight wait for some standard fare food.

    The extended review…

    Food:

Gingerbread Pancakes – 3/5 – I’ve been to a few places where I could compare the taste. The taste of the pancake was subtle and could have used a little more punch to it. Definitely could have used a little more pear as well.

Bacon – 3.5/5 – A good serving of bacon and I appreciate that it was not crispy but chewy!

Service: 3.5/5 – Friendly and attentive service.

Ambiance: 3.5/5 – So this place was very cute inside and out. The only thing I’d say is that the inside was a little claustrophobic. Thankfully we sat outside in the patio which was very nice.

  3. A really good brunch spot, and most definitely a must try. Their home fries were just simply cooked to perfection. The eggs were pretty good so were the ham and bacon. The sourdough was one of my favorite!
Overall, a really good place in Berkeley with food of higher standards and you can tell because of the amount of awards and/or plaques on the wall.

  4. Great place for breakfast. First part is about hospitality and general experience at the restaurant. Second part is Food review.

    Restaurant review:

As soon as we reached, we saw the restaurant was packed. We thought it should be around 30 mins or so wait since no one else was ahead of us. We were surprised that the lady said it’s going to be 2 hours? I had a doubt so I asked her to put our name and we started walking back to our car. As we were about to leave we got a text that table is ready since I asked her that we are okay sitting outside if there are heaters (it was cold windy day). We walked back and They sat us down and we realized there is no heater near our seating area. Bummer! In addition to omelette We ordered coffee and croissants for the moment since it was going to take 30-40 mins for them to bring out the omelette. We ordered almond Croissant and believe me it was below the standard of almond croissant. Not enough filling and it was super cold and soft. And soon it started raining. We wanted to cancel our order as it didn’t make sense. Our waiter was good enough to find us table inside but once we got the order we realized that while we were confused about weather to order pancakes or omelette at the end we decided to go for omelette and waiter put down both the options we were thinking for our order. We didn’t say anything since he had impressed us by arranging table inside. We had double the food we were planning to have.

    Food review:

Omelette was flavorful. Although side potatoes were salty, i usually add more salt (prefer salty food) and for me it was really salty so I was bit surprised.

You can skip on gingerbread poached pear pancakes. They were okay, not great. And if you are paying this much for pancakes then I would except at least 3 pancakes 🥞. It was disappointing.

Overall try it once, ambiance is great but I wish they improve service and flavors. Personally, I won’t be going back.

  5. Came on a Friday morning around 9am and was seated right away. Patio seating does not open until 11am but there is plenty of indoor seating. Quaint place with helpful and friendly staff! Ordered the lemon gingerbread pancake per servers recommendation with two eggs and bacon. Was underwhelmed by the pancake and wished I had picked a different flavor as they have many unusual pancakes to try! If you like gingerbread you would love it, I found it a bit dry even with syrup. The menu has a good variety so I will definitely be back! The breakfast potatoes were absolutely delicious! They allow service dogs indoors and are pet friendly on the patio out back. Would recommend! Extremely long wait times on weekends.

This was our second time having dinner here. I can’t say more positive things about this place. I had duck confit last time. This time I had the spicy fish stew. Both were absolutely incredible. Dinner was early enough to catch the end of happy hour which sliders and booze at a discount. Overall service is great and food was excellent. Gotta try the donuts(I forgot what they were called) Can’t wait to go back. Outdoor seating is great for people watching

The yucca fried are the best I have ever had- fluffy and perfectly fried! The ceviche was delicious and beautifully plated! I highly recommend getting the Chicha Morada to drink. Most unexpectedly delicious dish was the crab cake sandwich … I would actually go back just for that even though I am obsessed with ceviche!

Peruvian cuisine at its “finest”. 🤗 We really enjoyed how well prepared the dishes were presented. Simple cooking and no fuss thinking because the minute your food arrives, the taste will leave you speechless. THE LIMA STYLE CEVICHE, EMPANADAS, & SECO DE CORDERO (lamb shank) were my favorite. Although the ARROZ CON MARISCOS was delicious as well. This is a place to enjoy drinks, especially the Pisco Sours and fresh housemade juices: maracuya & chicha morada.

This place is amazing! Every thing we had was so delicious. Beef tenderloin, empanadas, pork adobo, and a redeye with pesto basil pasta. The service was absolutely top notch!

The food was good it was the service that killed it. Waited a while actually a long while to have our order taken. We ordered appetizers and a main dish unfortunately our main dish came out before our appetizers. And as I was paying I gave the waitress my debit card to pay for our bill and she returned with somebody else’s bill and charged my ATM card that was another bummer. Of course I corrected the error and was told that I will be getting a refund for the wrong amount charged. But I’m not sure if I’ll be coming back I really like the food though. it was just a timing of everything everything was slow.

Very surprised find of authentic German food in Walnut Creek, chef use fresh ingredients and prepare very tasty and health dishes, clean nice European style decorations, fresh German 🍺 on taps, food portions are Germany standard – plenty with very reasonable price. We will be back for more.

Monica was a delight! Excellent service. Weiner Schnitzel was like I remember, missed so much. Really good! Nice beer selection. Go for the strudel and have a latte. Awe, so good. Not icky sweet, just right. Thank you for a taste of home! We will be back.

The bean soup was pretty tasty. The Bavarian Chicken was big enough for 2 portions. The chicken was juicy with a nice crunch but also bland. The potato salad had more seasoning. A side of mushroom sauce was a nice addition to the chicken. My friend ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel. He finished the 2 patties and the cabbage, but wasnt a fan of the bland spaetzle. Hes been there a handful of times and said, “It used to be better.” Disappointed to learn that dessert also isnt an option during the week.

Stop by mother’s day and tried the Bavarian meat roll, bean soup with a very unique and tasty Forrest cake. Note : Forrest cake is available for special occasions; mothers day and Valentine’s day Spatten beer on tap

WOW! Had the Hungarian Goulash and it was fantastic. The beef was melt in your mouth no knife needed and the paprika gravy excellent. Don’t be bashful about using the bread to soak up the extra gravy. Had a taste of the Wiener Schnitzel and Sauerbraten they are fantastic as well. Great place with excellent food and a good value. Service was good and the beer choices were adequate. Looking forward to my next.
