I enjoy having the independence that this facility provides. I live in my own private and safe cottage on the facility grounds and something like this arrangement is very hard to find.

When considering an Independent Living Community I highly recommend Madrona Hills. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful from the moment you walk in the door. It has a very warm and welcome feeling from the moment you enter. The location is centrally located close to shopping and doctor offices. The apartments are nicely designed and the cottages are truly perfect the the independent resident looking to live in community living. Be sure to consider Madrona Hills for yourself or your loved one when your ready to transition from taking care of the house work, yard, and laundry. The is one of the original retirement communities in the Salem area. I love taking my kids to the Halloween celebration that they have every year, the kids make out with so much candy. The residents love seeing all the kids in their costumes and the joy on their faces. I have known quite a few friends and family that have lived and worked at Madrona Hills. They always let me know how much they love it. It’s like a tight-knit family at Madrona Hills, everyone is so caring and kind.

My aunt lives at Madrona Hills and I know they take great care of the people here. The staff is very nice and very helpful! There are delicious meals served three times daily, shuttle service, a forest like setting for nature lovers and housekeeping. 100% recommend this community to anyone looking for a great place to call home!

I know the employees at Madrona Hills and many of the residents. They are absolutely the kindest and most caring staff around. Very helpful and responsive to the residents. No request is too small, no task too big for them. 100% would recommend.

Do not let your relative or anybody you care about move here. This is my fifth time in a year waiting for hours for someone to come and lock up late at night. They leave the doors unlocked leaving the entire place vulnerable. They don’t have boat locks on their doors so basically anyone can get in their rooms. How often are they actually unlocked all night long?? So sad how people can treat the most vulnerable….. do not let your family members or anyone you love move here.

My grandmother is a resident at Hidden Lakes. This is one of the worst facilities I have had the unfortunate opportunity to experience. The food is terrible, my grandma pays thousands of dollars every month to live here and can’t stand the food. The food served to the residents is often unrecognizable garbage. She has gone up to 4 weeks without facility provided housekeeping. In short, do not move here.

They have serious problems separating reality from fiction at management level here. While lower level staff are very good at their jobs the food here is questionable. Like most businesses now days you are not considered the customer but rather a person of interest with any complaint you might have about the service. I was made to feel like I was the bad guy when I approached management about a parking issue. I would strongly recommend that you look at every option available to you before committing to this facility for any retirement needs. A one bedroom mini kitchen apartment here costs $4,100.00 a month! Oml…

Would not recommend but the staff is very helpful. But severely understaffed and people don’t seem to have food handlers cards. There was a hole in the ceiling for about a month just dripping water right in the path of servers and tables.The floors are very dirty, there is always random repairs laying in the corners of the hallways They raised the rent 300$ for the residents but the employees seemed to be at minimum wage. The elevators went out several times in the span of a few months. And the food is the same food you get in a high school cafeteria. But I guess they do have a pond

The food has been deplorable ever since the beginning of the pandemic. They blame supply issues, lack of chefs, blah, blah, blah. The residents in the main lodge pay for three meals, and most are inedible. I would not feed my dog or pig what they have been serving their residents! They really, really need to credit residents or lower the monthly charge until management can get it back under control. “Chef prepared meals” is not a plus here. The one great thing is the activities and outings – Joyce and Jim are fabulous!
