What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. My husband and I adopted our cat there as an older kitten, and we’re so grateful to them for bringing her into our lives! My experience with the shelter was very positive, and the people I interacted with were kind, compassionate, and helpful in the process of meeting cats as we looked for the right one to bring into our family. They really wanted to make sure we found a new friend that would be a perfect fit for us, and be able to share our lives for a long time. I really appreciate all that they do and their help!

The online waiting app worked great, and I was able to coordinate an appointment right after I got out of work.

  2. We found just the kitten we were looking for by a stroke of luck. She was at Pet Smart in Lincoln. Within an hour or so we were picking her up to take home. She was spayed, had a microchip, vaccinated, and well fed. The $100 fee was reasonable. They did follow ups with us after days 1 and 3. Lot’s of good advice and Pet Smart gave us coupons for things she needed which saved us almost $30.

  3. Amazing place!!! So lovely and very kind . I adopted my dog a couple of days ago. The staff are kind and very helpful

  4. I’m very grateful I was able to file a lost pet report I live in Sioux City But was able to file for our German shepherd that we gave away and the people have a suspicious story as to what happened with him thankfully capital humane society has been wonderful working with us and hopes to find what happened to him whether he lost his life in the Creek at Wilderness park or was just neglectfully lost Because he got away on his leash. Thank you again

  5. Wonderful staff. Answered every question and detailed knowledge about each pet’s history, mannerisms, and traits (assuming the pet had been there longer than a few days). I felt very confident adopting our new cat from there and they offer services and advice if needed post adoption.

    Update:
It’s been a year and we love our kitten so much. She’s a big two year old and gets along so well with her big sister.

Took the 2 stray cats that I adopted over to CHS during their spay/neuter drive. They also got chipped, their rabies shot & their feline leukemia & aids test. The whole process was very efficient & professional. Very impressed and they answered all my questions.

If I could give 10 Stars I would. Very good people working here that really go above and beyond. A co-worker found a dog that was severely injured off South Street not knowing what to do or where to go for immediate assistance we stopped by and asked. They immediately took the dog in although they were already closed by several minutes and began giving the dog emergency care. Upon follow-up the dog was doing great and was sent to Pieloch and ultimately adopted in their new forever Home. Thank you !!!!!!!!

Staff are very rude and simply just do not care. I dropped off some ragdoll cats from a bad situation and I loved them deeply. I knew their names, ages and even wrote down specific stuff for each cat. Not only did they change their names, but they didn’t even get their ages right!! One was a big guy bc he’s a ragdoll, mind you they didn’t even put the breed of the cats down. Sad and frustrating bc ragdolls need to be indoors bc of their coats and they are a very docile breed. Anyways, they said one of my cats was 4 years old and he was only 10 months old!! I raised that one. Very inconsiderate. Lady who I talked on the phone with made it very noticeable that she could really care less. In my opinion if you don’t care about your job, especially working with living animals, go find another minimum wage job!! Terrible staff.

How could you NOT give this place 5 stars?! They’re the only no-kill cat shelter in Lincoln, and even take care of kitties with FLV and FIV, which some shelters simply put to death. The cats have enough space, and the volunteers and staff are so caring. Stop in soon and find your new best friend! I adopted a sweet, loving, friendly black from here (at their old location) back in 2008, and he was the best companion a human could ask for, for 13 wonderful years. If you don’t have room in your home or heart for a cat right now, consider donating or volunteering. People like this make our community a better place.

Since I’m allergic and not able to bring a cat home, this was a very nice way for me to bring my boyfriends kids to get their cat fix. I called about my circumstances and they told me as long as they weren’t busy I would be able to let them see some cuddly friends!

They let us “interview the cats” by petting them and playing with them. Staff was helpful and guided us through the building. All the cats seemed happy and well cared for.

I love visiting The Cat House! I’m currently a student in Lincoln and it’s my home away from home. I miss my own cats dearly, but I always look forward to visiting the cats here, and it’s wonderful to see them adopted into good homes.

ONE STAR ONLY BECAUSE I CANT GO LOWER! Why, I have a family member who recently applied to adopt a cat. She was denied, and told she couldnt adopt any cat or kitten. NO REASON GIVEN! They site a personal board decision. Reached out as too why, and got the answer they want to assure their cats go to suitable and stable homes. No explanation. This person has volunteered for 3 years at the cat house. She is devastated and heart broken . She has a mental illness and receives disability, has NO history that should disqualify her from having a companion pet. By my observation, if a person is on disability or has a mental health issue they are disqualified. My family will not be donating any funds or endorse the Cat House in the future.
