  1. My son has been attending Art of War studio for 6 + months now and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Hard work, diligence and respect are some of the fundamental principles that the gym runs on and they have not only been a support to my son but have taught him to complete at national levels with sportsmanship and professionalism that is unparalleled. Our son has always been athletic so finding a gym that supported his dreams to be the best in his field of choice was daunting but Art of War has surpassed what we hoped for. The owner Art is the top in his field and has passed his knowledge onto the staff and they not only teach to the highest standard but personally uphold the highest standards of integrity, character and professionalism. The culture and atmosphere of the gym is helping my husband and I pursue raising our son to contribute to society in way that impacts the community for good and provides a safe environment for our son to train to be like the elites training him. The monthly cost is completely reasonable and when compared to other gyms in the area, Art of War is the best. They have multi-class times that are very flexible and can work with busy families schedules.
My son started BJJ this year having very little knowledge of the sport- in a few months he has won over 6 gold medals in multiple state matches and a sword all while having the support of His coaches on the side of the mat cheering him on! My son could not have experience this level of skill and talent with out the help, coaching and direction of of Art, Amos and the rest of the staff at Art of war.

  2. My kids started Art of War Brazillian Jiu Jitsu 2 months ago and they really love it. I have seen them grow physically, mentally & socially. All the games they play are fun but are also moves that help them learn techniques better. The coaches are very good at getting to know my kids and partnering them up with other kids around their level to help them excel. Art of War BJJ is definitely an awesome place for my kids.

  3. Cannot say enough great things about Art of War Jiu Jitsu! Our son is 5 (in the Tiny’s Class) and we have been coming here for the past few months. We’re lucky and get to come to all 5 classes each week.
After going to a couple different places we chose Art of War for the following reasons. 1.) The coaches are engaging and maintain the perfect balance between discipline and playfulness. They know every child’s name and what works best for them as individuals.
2.) The environment is quiet and there’s no other classes going on to distract the kids like some other places. It’s so much easier for them to focus this way!
3.) The gym is immaculate. Everything is orderly and clean. This extends to the children coming on and off the mat and keeping their feet clean.
4.) Maybe not a big deal for some people but the respect they give each child by calling them “ma’am” or “sir” (and respect they expect in return) is great.
We highly recommend them for anyone interested in Jiu Jitsu.
(They offer a free trial class so you can go see for yourself how awesome they are. That’s what we did!)

  4. Top tier jiujitsu. The children’s program has a well monitored student to coach ratio and the instruction is well planned out. The students WANT to put in the work to grow their skills, have fun, and respect the coaches and professors. Coach Lori, Coach Thomas, Coach Keith, Coach Sadie and Professor Art take the time to guide and know each practitioner from the future little rollers all the way through the adults and their extended family cheer squad. When looking for an academy as a mother and practitioner I look for pristine cleanliness, honor and respect based instruction, family oriented atmosphere and it must have a healthy competitive spirit. This place has it all. I bring my 4 children from little rollers to teen to train here. It feels like walking into a family with all the aunts, uncles and cousins reaching out to bring you under their wings. It’s a bonus that it keeps us in shape.
Zero drama and zero tolerance for it.
Growth focused people like these don’t allow the low vibes for negativity.
They utilize that energy on the mat.

  5. I really never do reviews for places but I feel like AOW deserves to be put on the map as one of the best gyms around…One of the most important things in my opinion about joining a new gym wether you’ve been training for a while, or if you are just starting out, is how you’re treated on your first day in the gym. I’ve been training for about 5 years now and I’ve trained in a handful of BJJ/MMA gyms. I’ve recently joined AOW after trying to find a solid gym in the Jacksonville area, and I’ve gotta say.. This gym is definitely unique and unlike any I’ve experienced , simply based on the structure on how the classes are ran and how everything you do in the gym is controlled and calculated for you by the instructor to best fit your training progression needs… from the moment you step foot in the door Arthur and his crew make sure you are taken care of and welcomed with the upmost care every step of the way to make sure you are prepared to have the best possible time on the mat learning and practicing the beautiful art of jiu jitsu no matter what your skill level. When you join this gym they make it a priority to get to know who each individual team member is, I truly believe they genuinely care about each member.. I’ve never felt like I was just another person coming to train who was unknown to the instructor. Every person in this gym is respectful and great to train with from the newbies to the savages. The vibe in this gym is one of the absolute best I’ve experienced in my few years of training and I am so proud to be apart of this academy.
I highly recommend this gym for anyone looking to train BJJ in Jacksonville area..

Our son has gained so much from Professor Bill and his staff. He has gained confidence in having contact with students of all different ages and size. It has taught him to be aware of his surroundings and how to protect and defend himself in multiple situations. Our son was welcomed with arms wide open and the students treat him with great respect. Professor Bill is magnificent in his training skills especially with his extensive background and experience. We wouldn’t choose any other place than Bill Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association. Thank you greatly for your time and efforts in contributing to the development of our growing teenager. A great place to build a great foundation for all!

We let our daughter try and choose any sport or dance class out there. In the end she chose Jiu Jitsu, specifically with professor Bill/ Family and all his coaches. Her dream is to compete and line her walls with medals & trophies and she knows this is the place to help her gain the skills and knowledge to make that happen. It’s been fun watching not just our daughter but ALL the kids grow & train in this sport.

Professor Bill and his wife Coach Ale run an incredible jiu jitsu studio. They are a family-run business, which we love to support. Professor Bill is a 2-time world champion and holds a 5th degree black belt and has been at this sport since he was a child, proving his dedication to mastering the skills needed to teach kids through adults. Our son gets easily distracted and we’ve noticed a huge improvement in his ability to focus and stay on task. Professor Bill and his coaches are incredibly patient, kind, and willing to work with kids to teach tough physical skills that can keep them safe in the real world. We highly recommend this studio for anyone interested in learning jiu jitsu in a fun, safe, engaging environment.

This place is great! The groups are a good size and there are a lot of regulars. The facility is clean and the team really cares about you being there and not getting injured. The professor explains technique well and always shares personal experiences and moments of humor. The energy of this place is welcoming and friendly.

As a 49 year old I was looking for a martial art that was effective and good for physical fitness without needing to go to work all banged up. BJJ is that art and Professor Bill is the instructor you need. They teach you BJJ from the ground up in a structured way that builds on prior lessons without throwing you in the deep end. All of the instructors have been top notch and you can tell there’s a plan behind what they teach. If you have never done any form of grappling, then BJJ is an excellent way to open your eyes to what happens if a conflict goes to the ground and to learn how to deal with that. As a black belt in Karate and many year student of Aikido, I can tell you that defending yourself on the mat is a whole different world that you need to learn and experience first hand. With BJJ, the Brazilian atmosphere is very welcoming and might be a welcome change for some when compared to the militaristic way how some other styles train. Try it out!

They Rock there! Master Nick & Chris as well as the rest of the team clearly have a “cult following” and we love the people there. They are in “growth mode” because they clearly take care of all the students and provide immense value through a number of different perspectives. The recent renovations that doubled thier space was really awesome and provides room enough for everyone on just about the busiest nights I have ever seen. They even have a new location as well which I cant speak since we have not been there but I am sure its just as awesome. TFMAA has great seasonal events as well that I feel really builds “Community” such as holidays, Parent nights, etc and provides additional value from other martial arts locations. Be careful if you go there, it can be addictive especially for the kids:)

Great experience for kids of all ages! My son is learning martial arts but also respect, life skills, nutrition, confidence, and responsibility. Each class finishes with a few minutes where instructors speak on different topics from healthy eating, bullying, attitude, responsibility, etc. The most impressive thing is that kids of all different ages and levels get to learn leadership skills by becoming junior instructors themselves. If you are hesitant about joining the Tersak Martial Arts Family… Just do it! You won’t regret watching your child grow and develop in so many ways.

Outstanding environment for children development. My 9 yo daughter gained a lot of self confidence since she started practicing karate in this wonderful place! The masters help the parents to develop in children good attitude, grit and sense of citizenship. I really appreciate all bullying situations that they discuss in the end of every single class. It helped my daughter to deal with a tough situation at school and trust in their support for that is priceless. They are committed on creating a family environment and make the kids feel special, with an individualized approach rare to see in business/school environment. The staff is amazing and they do a fantastic work. All families should experience how wonderful is to have a Tersak family helping/developing kiddos.

We have been with TFMAA since November now and are loving it. It’s not just for the kids, it’s for families which is what it’s built on. All the instructors are fantastic and know all their students by name. My son is learning so much more than just “kicks” they teach it all, self defense, self control, respect, confidence and so much more. We look forward to going every week and seeing what we’ll learn next. Give it a try, they have a free class to see if it’s a good fit for you and your family.

My kid started here a little over a year ago. Our first concern was the price, but we felt that her learning self defense would be worth it. It just so happened that one of the first things she learned was how to fall. Within a month, she slipped at home and would have cracked her skull but she instinctively used her new skills and was just fine. Every single month, it seemed, she was learning something that made my husband and I look at each other and say “worth it”. The staff is so tuned in, supportive, and understanding. So much so that I’ve now joined as well. Speaking as a parent of a student and as a student myself, I HIGHLY recommend this school and this community. It’s absolutely worth it.
