What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Dad has lived here for several years. Meals are decent but not great. They let servers off on holidays so residents end up with boxed meals (sandwich, chips, fruit, etc.) eaten in their units. Unfortunate. Not enough activities and variety is lacking. Insufficient monitoring of residents IMHO. No wifi, however, the facility is clean, bright and attractive. Many of the staff are friendly and pleasant.

  2. The residents were LOVELY! The background and grounds are pretty. We visited our family here. There were a few standout members of the staff for sure! However they really need to work on the food they serve these people. Cold, tasteless, and uninspired. The guest suite was nice and clean. The pool could use a good cleaning and the exterior lights by the elevators need replacing. Maybe the guy reading the paper in the storage room could find some time for repairs…
*cute library and game areas though.

  3. The people who work here are very nice. There are maintenance issues which are being fixed but overall the quality of live is very good. All things considered, we feel this is the best choice in the state and are happy we chose to live here.

  4. Management is not trained in humans services nor are any patterns of previous activity of professionalism displayed. Manuals of of services provided do not exist. Once committed to occupancy and moved in slow realization of expected pleasure of occupancy fades and disappointment builds to unbelievable levels. Reputation and moral will eventually catch-up and this establishment will be judged undesirable for retirees if not already. Lack of options for alternative arrangements leaves many residents unable to manage financially or otherwise arrangements. Life’s burdens become more complicated and less manageable. Education will not teach humans compassion and parents & elders seem uninterested or concerned. Love will be outlawed before we know it, the heart will become less something with feelings towards others or themselves and life will be meaningless. Human’s will become the animals they pretended not to be. It’s now the person, eat person! Dogs no longer eat dogs!

I don’t know if it’s the apartment or the grounds itself, but there are a lot of big flies during the daytime. The Staff in general are friendly and helpful to the families. Clean and neat are the common areas and they have night security.

I don’t live at this part of the apartments. It’s a little older but it is beautiful there and I have a few friends there as well. I took this picture there one day. I took some new pictures to show just how pretty the grounds are. There are massive trees all over the grounds and quite beautiful I might add. New pictures to come soon. I took all of the pictures you see here in my review. They are not subject to copyright and I am the owner of all the pictures that you see in any and all of my reviews.

I stayed here. There is a fat butch dike who was grandfathered into being the door man and police officer or head of private security there. Beware if you like fun she will call cops if anything makes sense and is fun. Otherwise this place is haunted its next to a graveyard. I give it two thumbs up.

Had an amazing experience while living here. Parking can be a little hectic, but as long as no one takes your parking spot then all is okay. Staff were attentive and prompt. To echo other reviews, upon move-out the majority of your security deposit will go to “cleaning fees” and painting. Does it really cost $500 to paint a small one bedroom? Who knows, but overall a pleasurable experience and the gym is a plus.

Lived here Oct 2021 – Oct 2022 The bad: The first day I went to take a shower, the pipe burst and water went everywhere. A few days after that, the washing machine stopped working. A few weeks later, all of my food went bad because the refrigerator stopped working. It took 2-3 visits before the refrigerator was replaced. There were disruptive noises even after hours as the construction was being completed (this may not apply to you if they have completed construction at this time). Throughout, my air-conditioning would drop the temp to 62 degrees overnight. If I turned the AC off, the temperatures would rise to 80+ degrees. I either woke up cold or hot. I have no idea why. The repair person came to “fix” the issue, and then the AC stopped working and the temperature in my apartment was at about 85 degrees until they came back out. Then my refrigerator stopped working again, my food spoiled and it was replaced again. The walls are thin, I could hear everything when my neighbors were having intercourse on one side or when my other neighbors were having fights. I don’t mean that I could hear loud noises – I mean I could hear every last word. A loud noise can be heard every time your neighbors’ blinds are raised. Parking (different company) took months to assign a space. The spaces are tight. When my neighbor parked over the line I had trouble entering my space on multiple occasions. The elevators seem to have a problem every other week. It really only affected me about 6 times during the year that I lived there, so it was not so bad. The worst is when the elevator on the floor doesn’t register your fob so it won’t move and you can’t call a different elevator. Construction had full use of the freight elevator so even during my move out only 1-2 trips could be allowed on weekdays. Upon move out, I was charged $561.26 for 1 bedroom paint and $261.78 for cleaning fee. To give you an idea of the amount of “damages” for that to be the case: the main damages were where my recliner had met the wall and transfered some paint to the wall (these walls will mark very easily), and a spot where I had attached an adhesive wall hook had stripped paint (0.75in x 1.5in). The majority of the images they documented as damages were scuff marks on the walls which I would have thought was normal wear and tear. I have lived in several apartments on the east coast before this and this is the most I have ever been charged on move out. So I don’t know if this is unique to the apartment or just how it is in Hawaii. I had also hired someone to clean the apartment before I left, but I see that they did not do a good enough job. I had requested someone look at my apartment before moveout, but it was never done. From my best recollection I do not think anyone reached out to me to do so. The area around the apartment basically closes down by 5pm and some people may not feel safe in the area after that time. The good: The people who work at the apartment are pretty friendly and try to help you out to the best of their abilities. Brian made the leasing process smooth and helped to coordinate my internet installation before I arrived (from the mainland). He was probably the best part of my whole experience. Olivia was always friendly if I stopped in. Grace and other back office staff were nice and helped when they could. I do not have any personal complaints about anyone that I interacted with. The location of the apartment is pretty convenient for commutes whether you need to go into town or to Kailua or Aiea. Honestly, maybe it was bad luck with everything that happened, but I felt let down since it seemed that construction and appliances were subpar. I felt that I should have demanded more from the apartment for the inconveniences (multiple times my food went bad or guests waking freezing cold) that occurred. I am frustrated with the move out charges on top of everything else that happened. But I have done my best to given an accurate account of my experience living at the Residences at Bishop Place to help others know what to expect.

Have been living here for over a month after relocating from the Midwest. Overall I really enjoy living here. Olivia was so helpful and professional through out the entirety of the leasing process and has always made herself available to answer my questions post signing. The apartment style fits my taste. It’s modern, but yet has character. The location is perfect and it’s pet friendly which is awesome! The 24 security is also clutch and I feel really safe living in the heart of Honolulu. I highly recommend this property and looking forward to when my family is here full time.

We moved in yesterday, and the first thing to note is that the customer service of everyone is top-notch. I especially wanted to mention Olivia, who helped us with apartment choices & paperwork; Zack, who helped us with lots of boxes and the tour; Stanley & Mike, who helped us bring boxes to apartments; and the security team that always has a smile. While the rating is 5 stars, on the not-so-great side is the elevator situation, as the building requires two elevators to go from parking to floors above 13th. Also, any delivery like food & groceries is not allowed to go to the apartment door, which is very inconvenient… Inside the apartment, windows don’t open, which, I guess, is obvious from photos in retrospect, but it would have been nice to get some fresh air. Also, the elevator and apartment doors each have separate tags/keys, which is a minor inconvenience of having to carry both, instead of a unified system. But again – it’s a 5-star apartment building, highly recommended. The common area design, amenities and gym especially are fantastic.

If you enjoy a quiet environment, do not live here. There is construction everyday that is extremely loud and literally shakes my room as if there was an earthquake. Due to this, my experience in this building has been less than satisfactory because I can’t even go to sleep without being awoken by very loud drills or do my work in my own room without being disrupted by very loud construction sounds.
